Are you a professional or student of tailoring? Did you see the set of pictures I posted in October, showing the stages I took when making this collar? I did something similar last February too, when I made the Barrel-Back Overcoat. I hope they give some idea how I construct this kind of Great Coat 'Stand & Fall' collar.
It largely depends on the cloth, what type of canvasses I use. On both these occasions I used a regular stiff collar canvas on the bias, and a couple of layers of soft felt 'domette', just to give the collar some sponginess and strength. These were then loosely basted to the under-collar.
